Nurse Manager, RN, Pre Admission Testing and Surgical Optimization Clinic

Position Summary:

Reporting to a Director responsible for a group of Clinical Services for the hospital site and with/through subordinate personnel, assumes management responsibility for a single major (or multiple smaller) function(s), service(s) or process(es) that provides support to clinical operations. Provides 24-hour accountability for patient care delivery, planning, and evaluation of services for one or more clinical areas and staff performance. Requires a high level of independent judgment and substantial latitude for independent action. Direct reports may include Clinical Leaders, Coordinators and/or high-level professional/administrative exempt and Nursing supervisory personnel.

What the Nurse Manager, RN, Pre Admission Testing and Surgical Optimization Clinic will need:

  • Associate's degree in nursing required. Bachelor’s degree desired
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan
  • 3-5 years clinical experience. Previous positions should include successive levels of increased responsibility
  • Preferred: Two years prior supervisory or manager experience and five years of clinical experience in similar areas
  • Project management skills including the ability to define program, project, or process objectives, identify stakeholders and their interests, plan steps, coordinate and allocate human, technological and fiscal resources to accomplish goals and objectives in a resourceful yet timely manner.
  • Ability to develop, implements, and administer budgets

What the Nurse Manager, RN, Pre Admission Testing and Surgical Optimization Clinic will do:

  • Identifies the need for policy development and/or revision, defines policies in collaboration with higher-level management input, goals and objectives.
  • Identifies the need for and drafts or defines procedures/protocols in collaboration with higher management input, goals and objectives; modifies procedures/protocols, as necessary.
  • Monitors the quality and quantity of workflow to ensure work is completed. Initiates or recommends personnel actions such as hires, fires and disciplines.
  • Completes performance appraisals.
  • Develops daily, monthly and/or yearly goals and measures and assists in developing and monitoring budget for single or multiple, closely related fields, areas or processes and, as requested, assists in assessment of goal attainment
  • Initiates, facilitates, and supports communication among a variety of health care providers and with various external agencies.
