    Position Summary:

    Under the guidance of a MRI Tech, follows established protocols and guidelines while performing a wide variety of diagnostic MRI procedures. Responsible for the production of high quality diagnostic images needed to provide physicians with clinical data to aid in establishing a diagnosis. Provides good customer service when explaining any patient preparation, patient scheduling, and procedure instructions and processes. Communicates and works with Radiologists in a manner that improves patient care.

    What the Student MRI Tech will Do:

    • Performs MRI procedures and operates machines in a safe and proper manner.
    • Performs all clerical and support functions associated with MRI process.
    • Assesses and monitors patient condition during procedures.
    • Follows on-the-job instructions as directed.
    • Organizes and prioritizes work to meet customer needs.
    • Acts as a team player, helping other staff when appropriate, to keep patient wait times to a minimum.
    • Demonstrates good customer service skills and finds ways to better serve customer.
    • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills to patients, clients, hospital and other staff members.
    • Accurately articulates exam results as directed by Radiologist, to Physicians, RNs and patients.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    What the Student MRI Tech will Need:

    • High School diploma and a student of an approved American MRI technology program or an approved Advanced Imaging technology program (CT, Nuc Med, PET-CT) with completion of the 16-17 approved MRI didactic courses.
    • Must be in good standing of MRI or Radiology Advanced Imaging Program. If not in an approved MRI program, must complete the 16-17 hours of didactic MRI course work to meet board exam requirements.
    • Certification or re-certification in Basic Cardiac Lie Support (BCLS) within three months of hire.
    • Must have completed first year of an MNRI approved program and/or another approved Radiology Advanced Imaging Program.
    • Familiarity with standard desktop and windows-based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.
