Description:
Provides consistent leadership of nursing personnel and supports patient focused collaborative care in a shared governance environment. Responsible for coordinating, facilitating and integrating the optimal provision of service on each unit. In conjunction with this, other responsibilities include providing clinical expertise coaching/mentoring of staff and customer service. Assumes
responsibility for the nursing units when Clinical Managers are not present.
Position Summary:
The House Supervisor is a clinically competent Registered Nurse who demonstrates commitment to professional development. The House Supervisor report to the Chief Nursing Officer and acts as leadership for hospital staff in the collaboration with charge nurses, department coordinators, and department managers. The House Supervisor is responsible to provide direct clinical care as assigned, and prioritized to meet organizational needs.
The House Supervisor demonstrates excellent clinical skills in emergency response and treatment, providing clinical support to departments as needed; utilizes critical thinking skills to resolve immediate clinical, ethical, and employment concerns; collaborates will all customers to provide excellent care across the continuum; promotes an atmosphere of customer centered care; has working knowledge of NOCHS policies and procedures. Responds, directs, and coordinates as appropriate according to the Safety Management Plan.
What the Housewide Supervisor will need:
- Current RN licensure in the State of Michigan.
- Five years recent, relevant clinical experience required, at least one year in critical care/ED preferred.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- PALS certification encouraged.
- Must be able to manage and prioritize several job tasks simultaneously and be able to function under high stress situations.
- Capable of developing positive, effective, working relationships with hospital staff, management/administration, and physicians.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and organizational information.
What the Housewide Supervisor will do:
- Provides clinical care support for routine and emergent needs of hospital departments.
- Demonstrates adherence to infection control guidelines and ensures compliance for the protection of all staff, patients, and visitors.
- Facilitates responsibilities for obtaining equipment, supplies, patient information, etc. as needed for the ongoing provision of quality patient care.
- Fosters and environment of interdepartmental teamwork to achieve efficient, competent care across the continuum.
- Communicates with community services such as law enforcement, social agencies, medical examiner, funeral homes, media, etc. as appropriate.
- Maintains and supports activities to provide a safe and secure environment.
- Participates in staff development by providing education and mentoring related to staff orientation, implementing new policies or procedures, and departmental competencies, etc.
