Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, manages all aspects of the volunteer experience, including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and ongoing support for individual and corporate volunteers. The Coordinator will collaborate with program leadership to identify opportunities where volunteer engagement can enhance service delivery and align with organizational priorities.
Additionally, this position oversees Pittsburgh Mercy’s in‑kind gifts program, ensuring that donated items are solicited, received, documented, and distributed in support of client and program needs. The role also supports events, donor engagement, and various Development Department initiatives to further fundraising and outreach goals.
Essential Functions:
• Oversee volunteer onboarding, training, and communication to ensure successful engagement.
• Ensure all required Federal, State, and Local volunteer clearances are completed.
• Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy to expand engagement.
• Grow partnerships with corporations and community groups.
• Use volunteer management software to schedule volunteers and track hours, training, and participation.
• Analyze volunteer program data, identifying opportunities and addressing challenges with the VP of Development.
• Foster a sense of community through targeted communications, appreciation events, and a volunteer newsletter.
• Partner with program managers to identify meaningful service opportunities that support client health and wellness.
• Manage the in‑kind gifts program, including wish list development, solicitation, gift receipt, distribution, and donor acknowledgment.
• Coordinate team‑based and corporate volunteer activities.
• Participate in team meetings and support campaigns, special events, online giving, and content creation.
Education, Qualifications, Licensure and Experience Required:
Schedule: Monday–Friday (between 8am -6pm), with occasional evenings, weekends, and local travel.
