Environmental Services Floor Tech 2
- 2nd shift- 5:00PM to 1:30 AM- 2:00PM to 10:30 PM
Position Summary
The Environmental Services (EVS) Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of all floor surfaces within a facility. This includes hard floors, carpets, stairwells, and specialty surfaces. The role supports a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff by performing routine and specialized floor care tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Floor Care & Maintenance
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and refinish hard-surface floors using manual and power equipment (auto scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, extractors).
- Clean and maintain carpeted areas, including vacuuming, spot cleaning, and performing full carpet extraction.
- Strip and wax VCT and other hard floor surfaces according to established procedures.
- Perform routine and deep cleaning of entryways, hallways, stairwells, and high‑traffic areas.
- Ensure wet floor signs, caution barriers, and appropriate safety practices are always used.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Safely operate floor care equipment such as:
- Auto-scrubbers
- Floor buffers/burnishers
- Carpet extractors
- Wet/dry vacuums
- Inspect, clean, and maintain equipment daily.
- Report equipment malfunctions or needed repairs promptly.
Environmental Services Support
- Assist with general cleaning duties when needed, including trash removal, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces.
- Ensure all cleaning chemicals are used according to safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures, especially in healthcare settings.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to OSHA, facility, and EVS safety standards.
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Maintain knowledge of chemical safety (SDS sheets, proper dilution, handling).
Preferred
- Previous floor care experience in a healthcare, hospitality, or commercial environment.
- Training in infection control or environmental services procedures.

Work Environment
