Shift: Flexible, day shift. Can work 7a-330pm.
Summary: Reviews bills for accuracy and submits to the appropriate third party payer or the patient. Bill secondary and tertiary bills when insurance coverage is present. Follow-up on unpaid accounts until final resolution.
Essential Job Functions:
Minimum Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements
1. High school graduate with courses in business, computers, bookkeeping and accounting. Ability to read, write and speak English language effectively.
2. One-year experience in accounting and computer preferred.
3. Ability to operate office machines.
4. Experience with health insurance billing and payment procedures.
5. Hand eye coordination and finger dexterity.
6. Flexible and able to adapt to change readily.
7. Good communication skills to contact insurance carriers, initiate correspondence, understand medical and insurance terms.
8. Typing ability of 60 words per minute.
9. Ability to sit for extended periods of time, deal with frequent interruptions and stay on task.
10. Command of English language with good spelling, punctuation and grammar skills.
11. Pleasant speaking voice with the ability to communicate well with the public.
12. Able to work as part of a productive, energetic and enthusiastic team.
13. Must be precise, concise and focused on details.
Critical Demands of the Job
1. Must be able to sit approximately 70% of the day as required.
2. Must be able to type/keyboard at least 60% of the day as required.
3. Must be able to open file cabinet drawers using push/pull force.
4. Must be able to lift 40 lbs to a maximum 4 – 5 feet.
Working Conditions
1. Works in heated, lighted and ventilated areas.
2. Work area is very pleasant.
