Independently provides comprehensive services to improve patient participation, independence, and functioning through the evaluation of medical necessity for skilled speech therapy services, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, multidisciplinary team involvement, counseling, referrals, and education. Continues to advance clinical skills through continuing education, evidenced based research, and program development.
The speech-language pathologist is responsible for the maintenance of their national certification through ASHA, state licensure, and necessary requirements for continuing education. The speech-language is responsible to the service area manager and/or the designated site leader.
Education:
Must be a graduate of a Master’s program accredited by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
Required: Master’s in applicable field.
Required Certification and Licensure:
State of Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist License or Speech-Language Pathologist Educational Limited Temporary License during their clinical fellowship year (CF), or eligible to obtain licensure prior to hire date.
Hold and maintain the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology through ASHA or be provisionally accepted during their clinical fellowship year (CF).
Related Experience:
Preferred: 1-year professional experience
American Heart Association BLS or equivalent
