The occupational therapist assistant assists the occupational therapist in carrying out a patient’s established plan of care. The occupational therapist assistant assumes the responsibility and accountability for administering treatment modalities, exercises, and procedures as determined by the plan of care established by an occupational therapist and in accordance with the State of Michigan Public Health Code Act 368 of 1978, in addition to established facility and departmental policies and procedures. The occupational therapist assistant works cooperatively with the patient’s team personnel in maintaining standards of professional practice and interdisciplinary teamwork to maintaining the highest degree of quality care.
