Description:
Assists in the direction and maintenance of a comprehensive and specialized credentialing program to assure continued accreditation by The Joint Commission (TJC) and other regulatory organizations. Coordinates and facilitates the initial application, reappointment and request for change processes for all physicians, advanced practice and allied health professionals. Provides administrative support to the Manager and Director of Medical Staff Services, Chief Medical Officer, Medical Staff Officers and Chiefs, as well as serving as a resource for all members of the Medical Staff. Provides support for Medical Staff Committees as required. Coordinates special events. Works independently, with little or no day-to-day supervision from Manager, Medical Staff Office.
This is a hybrid position, with at least 1-2 days working onsite in Grand Rapids, MI.

Medical Staff Onboarding Coordinator - What you will do:
- Assists in the direction and maintenance of a comprehensive and specialized credentialing program to assure continued accreditation by the Joint Commission (TJC) and other regulatory organizations.
- Responsible for all elements of the initial application, reappointment, requests for change, and resignation processes for physicians, APPs, and AHPs, including initiating internal processes, appropriately reviewing and evaluating information to determine eligibility for privileges requested, auditing files for accuracy and compliance. Serves as a resource to interpret, explain and follow all regulatory guidelines, including medical staff bylaws, fair hearing plan, rules and regulations and polices.
- Maintains accurate, confidential credentialing and administrative files, including committee rosters and participation. Maintains accurate computerized credentialing database information and updates the MSOW system as appropriate. Maintains ongoing monitoring of all expirables processes, including audits, and communicates status of compliance with leadership.
- Serves as primary communication liaison between the medical staff, Manager and Director, Medical Staff Office, CMO, Medical Staff Officers and Chiefs.
- Assist in coordinating special events for the Medical Staff.
- Supports Credentials and Medical Executive Committees, including preparation of reports to the Committee, preparation and distribution of meeting packets, and preparing minutes for Chair approval.
- Provides office support for Manager and Director, Medical Staff Office; Chief Medical Officer; Medical Staff Officers, incoming and outgoing correspondence, telephone calls, catering, room and meeting scheduling requests, and general customer service.
- Processes requests for additional privileges (mid-cycle) and resignations. Coordinates and participates in the Medical Staff Orientation process
- Coordinates the FPPE and OPPE processes
- Assist with creating and updating medical staff office policies and procedures under the direction of the Manager and Director, Medical Staff Office, CMO and Medical Executive committee.
- Monitors and revises credential and privilege request forms to reflect current standards in training and competency.
- Assists in the training and orientation of new team members.
- Serves as the content expert for all credentialing and privileging related matters.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature, completed Healthstream modules, participating in professional development activities, and maintaining active involvement in related conferences, seminars, and professional networking opportunities.

Medical Staff Onboarding Coordinator - What you will need:

Education
Minimum: Associate’s degree
Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Communications, Credentialing, Business, Legal or Health Care Administration

Minimum: n/a
Preferred: Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) or Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS)
Related Experience
Minimum: Two or more years of medical and/or legal background and experience. Physician credentialing experience, or previous experience in a Medical Staff Office
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum: Ability to maintain accurate records and maintain confidential information, possess strong customer service skills, including the ability to facilitate positive physician relationships, knowledge of TJC standards as they relate to Medical Staff functions, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to manage changing priorities and work with frequent interruptions, exercise independent thinking and judgment, ability to work without direct, day-to-day supervision required.
Computer Competency
Minimum: Shows how to use (through a competency assessment) a standard desktop and windows based computer system, including a basic understanding of email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software as required to perform the essential functions of the job.
