We are hiring Associate to Sr. Manufacturing Engineer who provides technical direction and business guidance to technical engineers to improve customer experience
What You Will Be Doing:
Supports team in improvement to processes and guides team to ensure quality production within assigned area(s), including execution and improvement of the quality system. Proactively develops a team of high-performing engineers that provides support and service to areas in a manufacturing plant. Provides support and guidance for production process improvements, resolution of manufacturing problems, and engages in transformational change initiatives in the plant. Ensures adherence to and compliance with established quality policies and practices. Supports investigation and root cause identification of quality issues and is responsible for achieving immediate and permanent fixes. Recommends changes to policies and procedures to continuously represent the customer experience with the quality of our products and services. Continually seeks innovative methods for improving team performance in quality and profitability. Partners with operations superintendents to fully execute designed production processes that adhere to quality standards and steps in for seamless support of production leadership to match production working hours. Serves as cross functional team support for the superintendent(s) of the areas supported by the technical engineers reporting to the team leader.

- In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes and production concepts

- Advanced level of computer skills including CAD exposure
- Guides the daily support from technical engineering professionals in run or change the business priorities
- Able to motivate and effectively lead technical engineers including technical and professional development
- Ability to prioritize many tasks, and handle high-pressure situations
- Directs team assignments for run or change the business support in the plant
- Actively engages team and supports cost reduction program to support achievement of set fiscal targets
- Provides timely and appropriate performance feedback to team members
- Ability to champion continuous improvement and experience with lean manufacturing tools
- Strong knowledge and understanding of quality sciences and quality systems
- Ability to anticipate and proactively prevent/problem solve issues
- Able to develop and implement quality control procedures for critical processes
- Critical thinker with excellent judgement and problem solving skills
- Able to grasp ambiguous problems and organize them into a structured and executable plan
- Knowledgeable about product and process costing and calculation of cost savings
- Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, presentation and negotiation
- Excellent interpersonal skills required to support working with people at all levels inside and outside Steelcase
Required Skills and Competencies
- B.S in Engineering or equivalent education required; prefer degrees in mechanical, industrial, or process/operations engineering
- At least 5 years engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience
- Metal Mechanics experience desirable working with steel / metal (tubes, sheet metal, forming) in processes such as fabrication (cutting, bending), form presses, and tube roll forming
- Previous experience in Quality or related fields; experience in product or manufacturing engineering
- Experience in Applying Automation
- ASQ Certification(s) or similar desirable
