We are hiring a Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities Maintenance Team, where we pride ourselves on maintaining a high standard of operational efficiency and excellence. We are seeking a skilled and reliable general maintenance technician to join our team and ensure our buildings and workplaces are maintained at a world-class condition. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining the quality and functionality of our facilities.
What You Will Be Doing:
As a member of our Facilities Maintenance Team, you will play a critical role in providing an outstanding workplace experience for our customers, building occupants, and visitors by ensuring the proper upkeep of our facilities. You will act as as a main point of contact for many of the building maintenance issues that arise around our greater Grand Rapids locations. Some examples of the roles and responsibilities include:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including preventative maintenance items and general repairs.
- Resolve maintenance issues in a timely manner with an emphasis on customer service.
- Conduct inspections and identify issues with equipment, systems, grounds, and building structures.
- Implement 5S practices by organizing facilities spaces, tools, and equipment.
- Manage inventory/supplies and order parts as needed.
- Collaborate with external vendors and contractors when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Document all maintenance activities and update maintenance logs.
- Respond to emergency repair requests as required.
- Identify roof leaks, execute repair process, and document locations.
- Position will be 1st shift hours to support the primary open business hours.
- After hours requests and weekend work may arise on some occasions.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 3-5 Years of experience facilities maintenance, facilities engineering, property management or construction (certificates or vocational training a plus)
- Microsoft Suite experience

- A plus – an understanding of the building envelope, electrical systems, plumbing systems, interior fixtures, irrigation, doors, hardware and mechanical systems.
- A plus – knowledge of electrical components, especially as it pertains to lighting.
- Knowledge of carpentry, painting, and other building trades.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Experience in general repairs and maintenance tasks (lamp replacements, ceiling tile replacements, minor plumbing repairs, door and hardware repairs).
- Understanding of safety protocols and regulations.
- Analytical skills to diagnose issues and implement solutions.
- Ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use new technology.
- Experience with facilities work order systems.
- Familiarity with Building Automation Systems for monitoring and controlling building functions.
- Familiarity with building codes and compliance requirements.
- Strong focus on customer service when addressing issues.
- Capability to manage workload efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
- Maintain records and documentation related to maintenance activities.
- Willingness to work with a team and assist other departments as needed.
- Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and emergency situations.
- Understanding and staying current on industry trends and new technologies.
- Willingness to participate in training programs as required.
