Position Summary:
This role is responsible for negotiating favorable terms for private label supply agreements, aiming to secure competitive pricing for goods that enhance profitability for independent grocers and the organization. Acting as an internal partner to private brand business managers, this position drives sales by identifying new manufacturers, researching product information, and collaborating with vendors to develop new items for the market.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Develop and coordinate all sourcing (approximately 30+) events across assigned categories to meet or exceed budgeted sourcing expectations by partnering with the Senior Sourcing Manager.
Collaborate with product development team to understand their need and ensure the best cost of goods is achieved based on prescribed quality metrics.
Develop and maintain tools to integrate multiple sourcing platforms via PowerBI and Excel to measure and report results to senior leadership.
Monitor, vet and assess performance with a scorecard capturing budgeted objectives for private label sourcing using various internal and external reporting tools available.
Establish and manage relationships with vendor partners to facilitate effective sourcing management to increase sales and profits, through negotiated lower product costs.
Maintain current knowledge of food industry and category trends to streamline best sourcing management practices while making recommendations to develop current programs and processes.
Supports the Senior Sourcing Manager with creating, planning, and coordinating the weekly sourcing events. Creates, maintains, and communicates sourcing event calendar and scorecard achievements.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree (required) in Business Administration, Food Marketing, or Supply chain or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Two years (preferred) of marketing, category management, product management and/or product development experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience (preferred) in private label product sourcing including both domestic and imported product procurement.
Strong financial acumen, analytical, influencing and negotiations skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of category products and services, and industry trends.
Experience working across business units to leverage resources and capabilities to accomplish company goals.
Strong presentation and project management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Nielsen Category Management tools, experience with purchasing systems is a plus.
Ability to travel up to 15%
