Position Summary:
This role is responsible to provide technical expertise in specialized area of application systems analysis and programming for company information systems/programs.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Participate in assigned projects as the technical expert in area of specialization. Formulate/define system scope and objectives for assigned projects.
Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering system capabilities and limitations, operating time and form of desired results.
Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written.
Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
Responsible for project quality assurance review as assigned and overseeing and monitoring the work of team members.
Instruct and review the work of other systems analysis and programming personnel and provide leadership, on-the-job training and mentoring to other team members as necessary.
Provide feedback and leadership in design sessions, strategy guidance and problem resolution sessions.
Plan, lead and monitor activities for assigned project(s), which may be large, complex projects.
May be responsible for project financial estimates and managing the project budget.
Initiate continuous improvement and act as a cross-functional team leader.
Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best Information Technology practices; make recommendations to improve current programs and processes.
Participate in the on-call support rotation.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Act as the subject matter expert and advise team on critical technical issues and resolution of such. Identify and resolve issues and monitor resolution; partner with other IT areas to ensure resolution of issues.
Work closely with various IT teams (development, security, etc.) as necessary to support and evaluate the hardware and software systems.
Provide guidance, mentoring and training for less experienced system engineers and IT support staff.
Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best practices within Information Technology and remain current with new technologies and systems engineer methodologies and protocols. Make recommendations to improve current systems or processes.
Lead project meetings in absence of department management and provide work direction to project teams to ensure timely completion of such.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Bachelor’s Degree (Required) in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Seven years Information Technology experience in applications systems analysis and programming.
Fully proficient in and applies Application Systems Analysis, design, coding, and testing knowledge.
Must have transportation domain knowledge. The expertise in functional areas such as inbound, routing, driver assignment, dispatch, back haul, ELD are preferred. Experience in Transportation Management Software such as McLeod, Ortec, Manhattan or Samsara is plus.
Ability to understand and work with large, complex integration systems and implementation plan. Integration technology knowledge of API platforms, API Integrations, microservices and event driven architecture are plus.
Experience an Agile/Scrum environment and good understanding of agile methodologies.
Excellent organizational skills and to be able to balance competing priorities and deliver concurrent projects.
Understanding of test-driven development and automated testing is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
Passion for continuous learning to improve the skills.
Must have good planning/project management, organizational, prioritization, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong knowledge of MS Office, MS Project and Visio required.
Ability to interact with management across the entire organization.
Ability to travel up to 10% based upon department and customer needs.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate but may be high in distribution settings. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
