The Construction Financial Analyst role will primarily develop and maintain tools and reporting for Meijer’s Real Estate and Store Development Team. These tools will be used to drive accuracy, provide statistical analysis, viability studies & guide decision making for the Meijer organization. Additional asset development & maintenance will be required of the role across the larger Real Estate & Store Development organization. Areas of involvement include cost tracking, cost projections, auditing, standardization, change management tracking & reporting, industry benchmarking, statistical analysis, etc.


What You'll be Doing:

  • Deliver comprehensive analytical and financial expertise to support Construction initiatives, including project financial management, cost analysis & reporting, procurement & contract support, and cash flow & forecasting.
  • Spearhead process automation by utilizing various tools including AI and Power BI, driving enhanced efficiency in reporting, cost evaluation, and data interpretation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate diverse data sources—both structured and unstructured—into centralized reporting platforms, improving transparency across Construction processes.
  • Implement robust data validation and transformation protocols to ensure data accuracy and consistency within project tracking systems such as cost development sheets/opinions of probable costs and SAP financial modules.
  • Partner with project and store development teams to analyze budget discrepancies, monitor cost trends, and evaluate proforma variances, thereby enhancing forecasting accuracy and guiding capital planning decisions.
  • Design, refine, and automate analytical, statistical, and financial tools to support project teams, leadership, and governance.
  • Provide timely, actionable reports to project teams and leadership, facilitating proactive issue resolution and promoting effective project governance and oversight.
  • Collaborate closely with finance and operations counterparts to guide financial analysis activities, oversee SAP system management, and ensure integrity in cost control, system administration, and financial reporting.
  • Support Construction in the preparation and update of annual capital budgets, leveraging data from key stakeholders to maintain alignment with strategic objectives.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Finance, Estimating, Engineering or a closely related field, with a focus on the financial & engineering analytics.
  • 2-3 years of cost analysis & estimating, project budget preparation and forecasting (ideally for retail or retail related facilities).
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, written and communicative skills
  • Ability to independently & accurately interpret data and extract important information or trends into reports that are useful to project teams.
  • Ability to work successfully with all levels of management, all project team members (project management, contractors, sub-contractors etc.) to achieve team goals.
  • Solid knowledge & understanding of estimating techniques and cost controls.
  • Proficient in SAP, Ariba, Procore, SQL, PowerBI, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
