The Planner engages and is accountable to the business area to drive results by instilling trust, managing ambiguity, a passion for customer experience, sense of curiosity with a positive can-do approach by focusing on the collaboration with their Buyer, supporting the development of business strategies, developing the skill sets with the team, and executing defined business processes which will ensure a positive customer experience. Being able to communicate, build relationships, and be engaged to influence team members and the business will be critical for success in the role.
What You'll be Doing:
- Develop a partnership and collaborate with the Buyer to drive merchandising strategies and tactics that deliver financial objectives, ROI and a positive customer experience.
- Partner with the Buyer to drive and execute key business decisions impacting the assigned category such as:
- All elements of the Open to Buy
- Store experience
- Assortment Planning
- Ad hoc reporting to support the Business needs
- InStore visits to ensure financial plans align to our envisioned customer experience
- Communicate opportunities and risks for both in-season and pre-season plans to leadership.
- Ensure the Buyer's vision is reflected in our financial plans/forecast and communicated to all partners and leadership.
- Instill trust with Fact-based decision-making within the team.
- Engage with teams to effectively manage an open relationship across the team and leadership.
- Communicate with Planning Director and Planner 2 along with appropriate levels of the organization to recognize and raise risks or opportunities to the plan.
What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
- 4-year University or College Degree or commensurate retail experience
- Minimum 4-years’ experience in Merchandising or prior experience with allocation and/or financial planning within the retail industry.
- Ability to gather and interpret data for various reports, as appropriate.
- Ability to drive positive change.
- Knowledge of the retail industry; understanding of specific category product lines and core customer behavior.
- Results focused using performance targets and goals to drive own activities as well as help team succeed.
- Office computer skills; able to learn company systems and tools
- Ablity to communicate, build relationships, and be engaged to influence team members and the business.
- Positive, can-do attitude that embraces change and ambiguity.
