Summary: The Annis Water Resources Institute is seeking a data scientist. This person will collaborate with multiple investigators to maintain existing relational databases and construct additional databases for ongoing long-term monitoring efforts. These databases will store diverse data sets related to research in environmental science.
Primary Duties:
- updating data, data structures, and metadata;
- developing pipelines for data quality control;
- consultation with environmental scientists on database design and construction; and
- improving tools for data processing and visualization.
Secondary Duties: data analysis and publication.
Required Qualifications:
- associate’s or bachelor’s degree in ecology, environmental engineering, or computer/data science
- fluency in the R programming language
- experience working with relational databases
- desire to work in a collaborative environment
- strong project management skills
- the ability to work independently and meticulously
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in ecology, environmental engineering, or computer/data science
- experience analyzing long-term datasets
- demonstrated success working in a collaborative setting
- experience with project tracking or version control tools
- previous work with geospatial tools and analysis
Salary: $40,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience

The Annis Water Resources Institute (AWRI) is a world-class research facility situated on Muskegon Lake in Muskegon, MI, on the shores of Lake Michigan.
