Grand Valley State University Athletic and Recreation Facilities Management seeks a Kelly Family Sports Center and Game Operations Graduate Student Assistant for the 2025-2026 academic year. This is typically a two-year position renewed annually based on educational requirements and successful evaluation after the first year of employment.
Compensation:
$14,000 for a 12-month appointment, a full tuition waiver, and a parking pass.
Responsibilities:
Supervision of student staff to operate the welcome desk at the Kelly Family Sports Center.
Includes hiring & training students, and oversight of welcome-desk policies.
Assist the Facility & Event Operations staff in daily tasks to operate designated facilities and run event operations within those facilities:
Kelly Family Sports Center, Lubbers Stadium, Baseball Stadium, Softball Stadium, Tennis Courts, Recreation Basketball Courts, Soccer Stadium, and the South Athletic Complex.
Perform facility walk-throughs on a regular basis to maintain organization and cleanliness
Maintain athletic equipment within facilities
Act as event manager for designated events/sports
Act as a liaison and provide excellent communication with other departments on campus, i.e. custodial, maintenance, grounds, etc.
Assist the Assistant AD for Facilities and Event Operations and the Facility and Event Coordinator with projects
Work 1 night shift per week
Required to work 20 hours per week
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
Acceptance into a GVSU Master’s Program
Related work experience in event & facility management, campus recreation, collegiate/professional athletics, or other related field
Student employee supervision experience
