Summary: This position is a full time, 12-month position managing all laboratory operations at the Pew Campus and Health Campus for the science departments under College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. It is responsible for maintaining the research and teaching laboratories including, but not limited to, budget tracking, ordering and tracking of all supplies, equipment and chemicals within two databases. This position also manages and coordinates course prep between the Pew and Allendale Campuses to maintain an organized, safe laboratory environment.
Primary Duties: In coordination with faculty instructors, prepare, set up, and break down materials for lab courses taught at the Pew Campus (Kennedy, DeVos and Cook-DeVos Center for Health Science) by the scheduled date. Hire and manage student employees and graduate assistants through university systems. Work with other departments to keep lab SOP information consistent between Pew and Allendale Campuses. Maintain cleanliness and functional organization of the teaching labs and support spaces in collaboration with the faculty and staff. Resource Management – purchase manage, repair, transport, perform preventative maintenance of Pew Campus resources including research through the college’s resource management system (RMS). This includes chemicals, equipment, and supplies. Manage, purchase, and track equipment and supply purchases for faculty development allocations and grant-funded projects. Submit expenses for reimbursement from internally funded grants. Work with Business & Finance staff to track expenses for externally funded projects. Comply with safety regulations and work with the University’s Environmental Health and Safety Director on chemical, biological, and physical safety issues, including the coordination, storage and disposal of waste. Ensure safety equipment is available and is in working order. Perform other duties as required/assigned by supervisor.

Working Conditions: Time is split between office and lab work. Some travel may be required with the ability to work weekends and nights as needed.

Must have the physical stamina to work long hours on your feet and/or more than 5 days per week. Must be able to lift 25 pounds unassisted. Minimum Starting Salary: $56,798
