Summary: The Department of Movement Science, in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, at Grand Valley State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Sport Management with sport expertise in intercollegiate and/or interscholastic settings to begin August 6, 2025. The Sport Management Program is an undergraduate BS degree granting program located in a metropolitan area with existing partnerships with four minor league teams, a robust sports commission, local public and private sport facilities, dozens of high schools, and Grand Valley State University has one of the best NCAA athletic programs in the country winning 25 consecutive Presidents' Cup trophies, an annual conference award recognizing general excellence in all sports.
Required Qualifications and Education:
Doctorate in Sport Management or closely related field. ABD will be considered with Ph.D. completed by December 2026
Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching at an institution in higher education
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect and cultural humility.

Minimum Starting Salary: $70,939; commensurate with experience.

Department: The Movement Science Department is in a multi-disciplinary unit that offers undergraduate degrees in Sport Management, Exercise Science and Health and Physical Education Teacher Education. The Department faculty uphold the values of a liberal education and support student engagement in experiential learning and high impact practices appropriate to each major in the Department. The Department is on the Allendale, MI campus 15 miles west of the Grand Valley State University downtown campus in Grand Rapids.
