Summary:
This position is a full-time, 12-month Lead Lab Supervisor in the Biology Department at GVSU. Responsibilities include setting up lab exercises, supervising full-time staff and part-time student lab assistants, purchasing materials, tracking budgets, maintaining spaces, supplies, and equipment, supporting student and faculty research.
Primary Duties:
Teaching and Research Support: Preparing materials and chemicals for laboratory courses, updating and maintaining lab prep procedures, supporting student and faculty research. Supervision and Collaboration: Supervising and guiding the AP Lab Supervisor and Student Lab Assistants in the department to prepare labs for instruction, collaborating with course coordinators to develop lab prep policies and procedures. Supervise the Greenhouse Supervisor in the department. Purchasing and Budget: Purchase materials and equipment for course curriculum and student and faculty research. Tracking student wages, equipment, supplies, and professional development budgets within the department. Develop and manage course budgets in collaboration with course coordinators and the department Unit Head. Inventory, Maintenance, and Repair: Maintaining a current inventory of supplies and equipment, maintaining lab, support spaces and supplies in good working order and cleanliness, manage the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.

Working Conditions
Time is split between office and lab work. Some travel may be required with the ability to work weekends and nights as needed.
Physical Demands: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have the physical stamina to work long hours on your feet and/or more than 5 days per week. Must be able to lift 25 pounds unassisted. Salary/Benefits: The minimum starting salary is $52,254. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
