We are seeking a Development Officer to drive corporate and mid-level fundraising efforts, build lasting relationships, and help grow philanthropic support across the organization.

What You’ll Do
Manage Donor Portfolio & Drive Revenue
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of corporate, annual, and emerging donors
  • Meet annual fundraising goals aligned with organizational priorities
  • Conduct donor meetings to advance relationships and secure support
Lead Solicitation & Proposal Development
  • Create and present proposals, sponsorship packages, and reports
  • Develop tailored strategies to increase giving and engagement
  • Support fundraising initiatives tied to events, programs, and partnerships
Steward & Engage Donors
  • Ensure timely acknowledgement, reporting, and follow-up
  • Coordinate donor experiences such as tours and special events
  • Maintain strong, long-term relationships with supporters
Build Strategic Partnerships
  • Collaborate across departments to align funding opportunities
  • Translate programs and initiatives into compelling cases for support
  • Maintain strong, long-term relationships with supporters
Manage Data & Pipeline Strategy
  • Track donor activity, strategy, and outcomes within CRM systems
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting on fundraising progress
  • Identify new prospects and expand sponsorship opportunities

What You Bring
  • 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, sales, account management, or relationship-building
  • Demonstrated success managing a portfolio and achieving measurable goals
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and accountability
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, public relations, or related field required. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Preferred: Experience in nonprofit, arts, or cultural organizations. Experience securing five-figure gifts or sponsorships. Familiarity with CRM systems and fundraising databases.

Working Conditions: This role operates in a professional office environment with regular movement through Meijer Gardens, including offices, exhibition areas, and event spaces. The position involves frequent interaction with donors, staff, and community stakeholders, both on-site and off-site. Occasional outdoor work and participation in events may require exposure to varying weather conditions. Evening and weekend work may be required to support donor engagement and organizational events.
Physical Requirements: This role requires the ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the work environment during the course of the day. Occasional lifting and carrying of materials up to approximately 20 pounds may be required. The position requires the ability to communicate clearly, observe details, and navigate various workspaces, including offices, event areas, and outdoor environments.
