 Department: Safety & Security 
 Supervisor: Mobility Manager 
 Pay Type: Seasonal, Hourly, Non-exempt (Not Eligible for Full-Time Benefits)
 Hours: This is a part-time role requiring 15- 20 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling.
 
 Position Summary: The Tram Driver is responsible for the safe operation of the tram, transporting guests around the paved tram trail at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. Tram Drivers will work with tram narrators (when available) and/or provide/operate the narration process to present an informative and enjoyable experience for guests.
 
 Essential Functions 
 Operate the tram safely, following all safety guidelines outlined in the Tram Manual and training.
Perform daily pre-trip inspections of the tram to ensure it is clean, operational, and safe (including checking tire inflation, fuel levels, and cleanliness of seats).
Undergo periodic evaluations to assess driving skills and performance.
Engage with guests, providing top-tier customer service, assistance, and information about the park.
Ensure a positive guest experience by maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
 
 
Education and / or Qualifications preferred:
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a 5-panel drug screen and DOT physical in accordance with position requirements.
 Skills/Knowledge/Licenses: Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
Valid Michigan Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Ability to work independently and follow directions. 
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. 
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues.

Working Conditions: Basic mobility is expected in offices, grounds, and exhibition areas. Ability to observe details at close range and communicate information accurately with others. Engage in occasional object manipulation with or without assistance and efficiently navigate the workspace to access essential resources. Manage occasional lifting tasks and have the ability to handle objects weighing up to 20 pounds with ease and regularity. Regularly operates in outdoor and challenging weather conditions, including exposure to temperatures exceeding 100°F and dropping below 0°F, rain, high humidity, snow, and direct sunlight. This encompasses both outdoor settings and greenhouse environments. It may entail exposure to various workplace hazards such as hazardous materials, loud noise, and extreme heat/cold. Availability to work some weekends and holidays is required.
