 Department: Cafe 
 Supervisor: Cafe Manager 
 Pay Type: Part-time, Hourly
 Compensation: The hourly rate for this position ranges from $16.00 to $18.00, depending on experience and qualifications. 
 
 Position Summary: A support position for the Balk Café, responsible for assisting with sales, food production, floor support, and customer service while adhering to the organization’s organizational expectations. This role requires the ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively with other staff members, volunteers, and vendors to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
 
 Essential Functions 
 Follow operating procedures established by the Chef and Café Manager. 
 Open and close the café dining room. 
 Greet guests and attend to their needs. 
 Maintain portion controls and quality standards. 
 Rotate inventory, monitor product expiration, and stock supplies. 
 Clear the dining room, check on guests' experiences, address any needs, and offer assistance. 
 Maintain Health Department standards. 
 Keep work areas, equipment, and the dining room clean according to established standard operating procedures. 
 Create daily signage for the café menu. 
 Assist with emailing the entire staff the soups and daily specials using the established format. 
 Contribute to a positive team approach by supporting both front-of-house service and back-of-house culinary teams. 
 Assist the Café Manager and Service Lead with organizational communications and update the Communications Board in their absence. 
 Assist the Café Manager and Service Lead with daily station assignments and execute these tasks in their absence. 
 Help train new hires using established training procedures. 
 Coordinate and prepare tour group meals. 
 Maintain thorough communications within the department. 
 Other duties as assigned by supervisors. 
 
 
Education and / or Qualifications preferred:
 Education: Working knowledge of food service industry with strong customer service abilities. 
Culinary experience and Serv Safe Certification a plus.

 Working Conditions: Basic mobility is expected in offices, grounds, and exhibition areas. Ability to observe details at close range and communicate information accurately with others. Engage in occasional object manipulation with or without assistance, and efficiently navigate the workspace to access essential resources. Ability to regularly move up to 20 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally move 100+ pounds (i.e., load, unload, and move supplies, medium to heavy weight tools, and equipment).
