Packaging Engineer (Contract) - Zeeland, MI
DISHER is partnering with a client to find a detail-oriented Packaging Engineer to lead and support packaging initiatives. In this role, you will design and develop packaging solutions for finished goods and products, ensuring both functionality and cost-effectiveness. You will also be responsible for planning, monitoring, and coordinating packaging-related projects from concept through implementation.

What you'll get to do:
- Partner with program launch teams to determine and implement packaging solutions for new initiatives.
- Gather and uphold packaging requirements specified by customers.
- Select suitable tests and supervise the evaluation of packaging materials.
- Create and establish testing procedures that fulfill customer packaging specifications.
- Work in tandem with Operations Teams to assess and introduce packaging for in-house applications.
- Cooperate with Customer Quality teams to address and resolve packaging-related quality concerns.
- Lead the company’s Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives to enhance quality and lower expenses.
- Draft and update specifications, checklists, and work instructions detailing the engineered packaging approach.
- Work with material planning teams to ensure timely procurement of packaging needed for production.
- Oversee the quoting process, supplier selection, and vendor development activities.
- Weigh transportation expenses against packaging costs to design the most effective packaging systems.
