Operations Manager - Sparta, Michigan
DISHER is partnered with a fruit-packing company that packages and distributes produce to grocers. They are currently seeking to add an Operations Manager to their team in Sparta, Michigan. In this role, you will ensure the smooth operation of equipment, collaborate closely with the Plant Manager to devise daily operational plans, and monitor production throughout the day. Your role includes programming runs for production and adjusting programs to optimize product utilization.

What you will get to do:
- Test and maintain equipment functionality, including Global Scan, Orphea, Idd4, and Dls's.
- Collaborate with the Plant Manager to develop daily operational plans.
- Program runs on Global Scan and Orphea idd4 for production.
- Adjust programs as necessary and monitor changes during runs to maximize product potential.
- Coordinate and communicate with team members in production activities.
- Partner with the quality team to ensure all specifications are being met.
- Take water samples and report on drinking water and wastewater.
- Monitor packing charges and expenses closely.
- Stand in for Plant Manager as needed: Determine production end times and select apple blocks for production. Handle any issues that arise during production and communicate with processors. Communicate with external parties regarding schedule changes, inventory, packaging supplies, etc. Data entry into spreadsheets utilizing Famous software. Issue bins at the end of runs and manage pack-out processes.
What will make you successful:
- Strong communication skills, some knowledge of Spanish preferred.
- Packaging experience in the apple, fruit or produce industries.
- Knowledge of apple varieties, sizes, colors, etc. is beneficial.
- An understanding of how a production line runs is preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must have the current and continuing right to work in the United States of America without restrictions or expirations.
