SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Health Services works with the Director of Health & Counseling Services and associated staff to provide students with excellent care for body, mind, and soul. Located at the check-in desk for both health services and counseling services. The core of Cornerstone University is defined and driven by its Christ-centered mission and Biblical confession.

CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Salaried with reduced hours up to 1915 hours/year. A typical schedule is up to 38 hours/week in the school year and less in the summer.

DEPT: Health and Counseling Services

LOCATION: On-Site, Grand Rapids, MI

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare new health files for incoming students, including sending blank health forms to incoming students to fill out.
  • Manage the collection and protection of student health information, both physically and electronically.
  • Maintain accurate shared data regarding student health form completion between Health Services and other campus offices responsible for incoming students.
  • Assist students and their families with health forms and campus health-related questions.
  • Work closely with the campus nurse to triage student health needs and direct students to appropriate health resources on campus or in the community.
  • Distribute over-the-counter remedies to students as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the Health & Counseling Services team to provide educational groups and events to students at various locations on campus.
  • Check students in for health or counseling appointments, and schedule future appointments as needed.
  • Maintain an orderly office environment, including ordering supplies related to both health and counseling needs.
  • Present information at campus events about available services to prospective or accepted students and their families.
  • Manage international student health insurance in conjunction with an insurance representative to direct international students towards appropriate medical care.
  • Manage the budget for Health & Counseling Services, including budget transfer requests, budget increase proposals, and balance monitoring.
  • Follow state regulations regarding the storage and disposal of paper medical records.
  • All Cornerstone University and WCSG employees will regularly interact with students in a variety of projects, activities, and settings. As such all employees are expected to serve as Christian leaders and mentors by effectively living a gospel-centered lifestyle, ministering and discipling through a biblical worldview.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a medical-related or business operations field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a patient-focused role within the medical field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in office management or an office coordinator role.
  • A CMAA (Certified Medical Administrative Assistant) certification or other related medical certification, or comprehensive medical administrative experience.
  • Proven experience with computers and applied software, and an ability to learn and manage health-related software in the office.
  • Thorough understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality expectations surrounding health and counseling services.
  • Commitment to the discipleship and whole-health culture of the Health & Counseling Services office, and the values of the Spiritual Formation and Christian Community department.
  • Proven skill to serve others and problem-solve with a kind and welcoming demeanor.
