CLASSIFICATION: 12-month, Part-time, Hourly Graduate Assistant
REPORTS TO: Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and External Relations
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
LOCATION: Hansen Athletic Center | Athletic Fields, Grand Rapids, MI
SUMMARY
The individual in this position represents Cornerstone University with hospitality and excellence by coordinating with the 20 athletic programs, in communication, media and public relations. They will aid the Assistant AD for Facilities, the Coordinator of Communication, and Gameday Operations Manager for the overall promotion of the department’s goals.
COMPENSATION: 100% tuition benefit, not including fees and books, subject to financial aid guidelines. Hourly compensation provided.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Internal Operations
- Game day events
- Assist game day administrator with game management needs including setup and communication
- Assist game day operations manager with scheduling of student workers, email reminders, etc.
- Maintain standard operating procedures for student staff and facility event management
Tickets and Hospitality
- Manage gameday ticket operations and student guest services
- Build relationships in the community to create connections through Cornerstone athletic teams.
- Establish and create ticket promotions, growing the engagement for athletic events
- Process all internal and external community memberships and guest passes
Student Workers
- Assist with the oversite of all student workers enforcing standard practices, hiring and scheduling workers, etc.
Marketing/Engagement
- Campus Engagement – StoneZone
- Create community life through students and sports
- Communicate with local sponsors, partners, and coaches on sports events
- Work directly with head coaches on creating engagement plan for their home season
Summer Camps
- Work with coaches and sports camp director on summer camp engagement
- Create organized planners and a plan of attack to market summer camps
- Assist with summer camp help as needed
Facilities/Student Supervision/Rentals
- Assist in the creation and supervision of student employee task sheets
- Communicate with rentals throughout event duration, assisting with set-up and tear down of event
- Reserve rooms and venues as necessary through resource scheduler
- Submit work orders for needed repairs
- Maximum of 968 working hours, dependent on stipend
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in sports management, communication, or similar field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and recreation management software
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Willingness and ability to work cooperatively with students, student employee’s, coaches, and athletic personnel
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to move and lift athletic equipment required for various event setup needs
- Must be able to walk and be on feet frequently
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds
