DEPARTMENT: Athletics
REPORTS TO : Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and External Relations
LOCATION: Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids, MI
CLASSIFICATION: 12-month, Part-time, hourly
SUMMARY
The individual in this position will represent Cornerstone University hospitably and with excellence by coordinating with the 20 athletic programs and supporting event and facility operations. They will also aid the department in supervising of student workers.
COMPENSATION
100% tuition benefit, not including fees and books, subject to financial aid guidelines. Hourly compensation offered.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Game day events
- Assist game day administrator with game management needs including setup, communication, and teardown
- Monitor student workers throughout event, assist as needed
Concessions vendors
- Maintain the concession operations and inventory for Hansen and Central concession stands
- Maintain the cleanliness of the concession stand through student worker cleaning training and general deep cleaning
Laundry
- Support the laundry needs of each facility and maintain equipment as needed
Tickets and Hospitality
- Manage gameday ticket operations and student guest services
- Build relationships in the community to create connections through Cornerstone athletic teams
Athletic event scheduling
- Input athletic games and schedules into Resource Scheduler
External Operations
- Assist in scheduling and management of all external rentals, working shifts as needed.
Rentals and community engagement
- Help process facility rentals and other related items regarding community engagement
- Communicate with rentals to establish event details, creation of contracts, and build external relationships
- Assist with rental set up and tear down of events
Facilities
- Maintain standard operating procedures for student staff and facility event management
- Reserve rooms and venues as needed through Resource Scheduler
- Submit work orders for needed repairs
Student Staffing
- Supervise, train, and schedule student staff for internal and external needs
Student Building Supervisor
- Create guidelines/tasks for SBS workers, creating framework and policies for job expectations
- Work with surrounding schools to create best-practices, utilizing SBS workers
Weight room
• Assist with the creation and maintenance of internal policies and procedures
Maximum of 968 working hours/year
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in sports management, communications, or similar field required
- Acceptance into a Cornerstone University Master’s Degree program
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and recreation management software
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Willingness and ability to work cooperatively with student employees, coaches, and athletic personnel
- Ability to move and lift athletic equipment required for various event setup needs
- Must be able to walk and be on feet frequently and lift up to 50 lbs.
