Job Summary

The Evaluation Specialist will serve as a member of the health equity evaluation team, supporting the design and implementation of evaluation strategies related to Corewell Health's community health initiatives. This position is responsible for collaborating with key stakeholders to define and design evaluations that answer critical questions about the value and impact of community health initiatives. These evaluations are diverse in nature and often span the whole of Corewell Health’s service area. Their focus can include individual programs, strategic investments, or portfolios of work that drive towards key strategic outcomes. Ideal candidates will possess experience and expertise in evaluation theory, practice, and approaches. They should have training in both quantitative and qualitative methods. An understanding of systems concepts and their application to evaluation work is a plus. The evaluation team promotes diverse perspectives, transparent communication, and intellectual curiosity. Adaptability and the ability to navigate evolving circumstances and uncertainty are essential qualifications for this role.


Essential Functions

  • Planning and designing of evaluation processes that contribute to program and strategy assessments, assisting more senior team members and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assists in project activities by contributing to assessment, analysis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Helps manage work plans and scope, participates in assessing resource needs, and coordinates project activities as directed. Contributes to analyzing and documenting processes, procedures, and results to support ongoing improvement.
  • Communicates and collaborates with key stakeholders, business partners, and leadership to help ensure coordination of services and appropriate use of resources, with supervision.
  • Participate in committees and task forces as a member or contributor, providing support as needed.
  • Contributes to developing key evaluation questions by engaging in thoughtful discussions with colleagues at Corewell Health and community partners.
  • Assists in analyzing and resolving issues, preparing proposals and recommendations for review by senior staff or leadership. Demonstrates ability to support project phases and collaborate with team members.
  • Help create and deliver reports on evaluation findings and recommendations, tailoring reporting to the needs of stakeholders with guidance.
  • Builds and maintains connections with internal and external partners to support evaluation activities, seeking diverse perspectives for the evaluation process.
  • Works collaboratively with the evaluation team and proactively asks for support or guidance when needed.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills, adapting messaging and findings to different audiences—including executives, program staff, and community members—with support from senior team members.
  • Embraces complexity and maintains curiosity when exploring evaluation findings, data, and observations, seeking input from others as needed.
  • Assists in designing and implementing approaches to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data in support of evaluation questions, under supervision.
  • Helps develop data collection tools and processes that align with evaluation plans and questions, contributing to the generation of evidence needed to evaluate health equity initiatives and strategies at Corewell Health.
  • Independently develops data visualizations and leverages storytelling techniques to effectively convey model outcomes and insights to stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 2 years of relevant experience of applicable business function experience or other related experience
  • 2 years of relevant experience of related experience, preferably in project management

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Program Evaluation Epidemiology, Social Work or similar fields
  • 3 years of relevant experience training in a quantitative discipline health care, data science, statistics, or a related field Equivalent. Demonstrated proficiency may also be considered. Proven track record of applying data science techniques to real-world problems and delivering results.
