About this unit
The Prince Surgical Critical Care Unit is a 22-bed intensive care unit in the Meijer Heart Center at Butterworth Hospital. The surgical ICU specializes in the care of critically ill trauma and surgical patients. The trauma population includes geriatric rib fractures, traumatic brain injury, multi-trauma requiring critical care needs, trauma surgery, and the critical care adult burn population. The surgical population primarily includes emergency general surgery, surgical oncology, and vascular surgery with critical care needs. The surgical ICU is a fast-paced unit that relies heavily on teamwork and an interdisciplinary approach with not only provider teams, but ancillary staff to deliver exceptional care.
