Job Summary
Responsible for the leadership, management, and direction of system-wide analytics efforts for the Corewell Health System. As a key member of the senior leadership team of Integrated Data Analytics, expected to distill the strategic vision of key stakeholders, and direct the deployment of an analytics portfolio that includes:
• introduction of modern data management and mining techniques;
• development and use of strategic data architecture;
• implementation of surveillance tools for key metrics and indicators;
• and ensuring compliance with state, federal and regulatory reporting requirements.
Leads a team of senior-level analytics professionals and managers who are responsible for executing a strategy to support the needs of clinical, operational, and business leaders to realize analytical organizational goals. Expected to be an active partner with system leadership in translating these goals into executable, value-add processes and products. Must successfully navigate a highly matrixed and complex organization, using systems experience to lead, influence, and inspire.
Essential Functions
- Leads the integration of people, process, tools and systems to ensure an integrated, cost-effective and highly-efficient Data Analytics operation. Provides leadership for individual and manager-level Data Analytics team members who provide timely and valuable data, services, solutions, and insights to colleagues and leaders of the Corewell Health Delivery System.
- Responsible for the procurement of top talent, as well as their acquisition, management, and succession within the organization. Selects, trains, develops and evaluates subordinates, and initiates personnel actions in accordance with policies and organization philosophy. Maintains a team environment that produces unity, enabling strong relationships with customers and other collaborating roles. Creates an expectation that staff become involved in committees / projects / continuous improvement activities. Negotiates vendor contracts and manages assignments.
- Directs and recommends the use of analytics tools, data warehouse architecture and predictive analytics methods to make educated, data-driven decisions that focus on and prioritize clinical and process improvement initiatives. Directs an organization-wide culture of analytics and data ownership, with recognition that analytics, data, and information are core business assets.
- Provides key thought-leadership in defining, prioritizing, and executing the analytics that support and drive business intelligence, strategies, and improved outcomes.
- Builds and sustains important relationships and integration points with other analytic service providers, including Operations, Information Services, Human Resources, Finance, Risk/Compliance/Accreditation, Research and Legal.
- Foster data stewardship, data governance, and data sharing relationships with collaborative internal and external partners. (CIN’s, ACO’s, Other Providers, 3rd party vendors, etc.)
- Engages in continuous study of the analytics professional field services (including best practices) to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Maintains updated knowledge of rules, regulations, and standards of information technology and analytics. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, blogs, journals, and other literature, and attending related seminars, conferences, etc. Provides chairperson and facilitator leadership for various committees, workgroups, and task forces.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management, Informatics, Business, Statistics or related field
- 7 years of relevant experience in project/people leadership
Preferred
- Master's Degree - MHSA, MPH, MBA, or related field.
- 7 years of relevant experience in healthcare operations, healthcare analytics, process improvement, clinical/financial information systems, and/or regulatory readiness
- 5 years of relevant experience in Population Health analytics, Quality Safety Experience analytics, Healthcare Operations analytics, and/or comparable analytics experience.
