Job Summary
Coordinates and organizes clinical personnel and other resources to meet the patient care functions of the organization in a cost-effective manner and in conjunction with the manager, where applicable. Has responsibility for clinical operations, orients and trains team members and ensures competency for excellence in clinical practice. Develops process improvement initiatives based on best practice and participates in the development of policies and procedures. Collaborates with providers, administrators and other stakeholders to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the services and programs offered by the facility.
Essential Functions
  • Manages assigned staff and collaborates with other disciplines to ensure quality services are provided. Monitors and guides clinical staff performance, including giving feedback, coaching and performance evaluation. Ensures that clinical care meets regulatory, accrediting and professional standards along with Corewell Health's policies and philosophy. Assists with interdisciplinary relationships to support improvements in care delivery, patient, provider and team member satisfaction. Assesses care delivery through performance improvement process, quality indicators, staff performance and clinic rounding.
  • Evaluates and communicates the factors that affect and support care delivery for assigned clinic. Organizes and oversees the scheduling, staffing and workflows of the clinic and adapts as needed to meet the changing needs and demands of the patients and the facility. Creates a work environment that promotes retention and respects diversity. Leads in a way that is culturally sensitive and protects the autonomy, dignity and rights of patients, families and staff. Helps staff to recognize and address ethical issues within nursing and assigned area. Bases decisions and actions on ethical principles, using the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide practice. Supports privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data.
  • Assists in quality enhancement activities at the clinic level. Collaborates with leadership and providers to continuously improve the quality, safety and clinical outcomes. Participates in interdisciplinary performance initiatives.
  • Promotes respectful and effective communication and diversity in all interactions. Creates a caring and collaborative culture among disciplines and departments. Works with clinic leaders and team members to make and implement a change vision that engages and unites interdisciplinary and practice group teams. Supports a professional practice environment that enables and involves staff participation by fostering shared decision-making, responsibility and independence in clinical practice. Acts as a role model and mentor to staff, colleagues and students.
  • Oversees the orientation, training and education of clinical team members and promotes professional development. Provides a continuous learning environment to ensure staff have ongoing education and development opportunities based on populations served, professional practice, new technology and/or required skills. Helps to identify trends and competencies in clinical practice. Creates a positive work environment that supports staff and fosters professional growth. Guides, mentors, motivates, acts as a resource and support to staff, encouraging them to grow as professionals and self-directed learners.
  • Assists leadership with budget to ensure sound fiscal management consistent with the goals of the department. This includes efficient use of resources and supplies while overseeing clinic operations. Upholds the standards for clinic operations in the supervision of using suitable staff skill levels and staffing plans.
  • Collaborates with leadership to evaluate programs and services that support patient care delivery in assigned clinic. This includes effective utilization of workforce, facilities and equipment. Provides feedback to leadership on the implication of policies, procedures and programs being formulated and recommends specific action. Participates and facilitates staff involvement in the development and review of policies, procedures and guidelines based on evidence-based practice, research findings and Corewell Health quality outcomes.
  • Ensures that patients, families, visitors and team members are treated in accordance with Corewell Health's core values and service standards. Demonstrates teamwork and integrity in all work-related activities. Ensures the work performed supports Corewell Health's mission to improve the health of the communities we serve. Responsible for patient and team member satisfaction outcomes and developing actions that continually improve clinic.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing - Required
  • 2 years of relevant experience Related to clinical nursing experience - Required
  • 1 year of relevant experience Recent and relevant supervisory or management experience - Preferred
  • Experience working in an ambulatory setting - Preferred
  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association - 90 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross - 90 Days required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association Spine Center - 180 Days required
