Job Summary
Assess hemodynamics/cardiac calculations operate equipment, document procedures, site management, patient/family education, patient preparation, sterile technique, processing and saving images, electrical mapping, responsibility for preparation of the access site, intraprocedural handling of instruments, maintenance of sterile field, evaluation of changing conditions during procedures. Responsible for maintaining basic knowledge of congenital, vascular, structural, cardiac, and electrophysiological procedures. Device pocket closure. Responsible for taking call to cover urgent/emergent procedures. Participates in ongoing process improvement activities, department level education, and adheres to unit based standard work.
Essential Functions
- Prepares case tables with necessary equipment, sterile supplies, instruments, labels, and medications/solutions for each procedure and performs surgical sponge, needle, and instruments counts.
- Creates and maintains a sterile and safe environment and provides sterile instruments and supplies to assist in procedures.
- Communicates and collaborates with patients and other members of the health care team to ensure continuity and coordination of services
- Monitor patients undergoing invasive and interventional procedures, capturing and recording hemodynamic/physiologic wave forms and performing calculations.
- Depending on specialty, must be able to utilize IVUS, FFR, OCT, ICE, Shockwave, IABP, Impella, Atherectomy (laser and rotational), 3D mapping and provide support for cardiac, ablation, peripheral, laser lead extractions, structural heart interventions, pediatric congenital interventions, and implantable device procedures, including pocket closures.
- Circulates procedures as second circulator, gathering equipment for the procedure, obtaining and resulting ACT and oximetry.
Qualifications
- Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Cardiovascular Technologist Program, Radiology Technologist Program or Bachelor's in Health Science
- 2 years of relevant experience Clinical experience in electrophysiology or invasive cardiology procedures Preferred
- CRT-Radiographer (R) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist If hired into role after March 30, 2018. 3 Yrs required Or
- CRT-Reg Card Elect Specialist (RCES) - CCINT'L Cardiovascular Credentialing International If hired into role after March 30, 2018. 3 Yrs required Or
- CRT-Reg Card Inter Specialist (RCIS) - CCINT'L Cardiovascular Credentialing International If hired into role after March 30, 2018. 3 Yrs required
- CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
- CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association If working with pediatric patients. 180 Days required
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 60 Days required
