Corewell Health West is seeking a full time Hospitalist to join their team as a Float Physician for our community hospitals providing exceptional care for the hospitalized individuals and families.
This physician will work 7 on 7 off schedule for a total of 175 shifts per year. All day shifts; no nights! Float position can be scheduled at any of our community hospitals including Ludington Hospital, Gerber Hospital, Big Rapids Hospital, United Hospital, Zeeland Hospital, or Pennock Hospital. Schedule is set 6 months in advance and the Float Physician will spend no less than a full week at any one location to provide continuity patient care. Some procedures and manage vents required; tele-ICU physician available for consults through state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment.

Essential Functions
- Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.
- Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.
- Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
- Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.
- Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.
- Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
- Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient/family advocate.
- Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.
Actively works with Spectrum Health to meet financial and patient satisfaction goals.
Qualifications
- Required Bachelor's Degree
- LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
- LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
- CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
- CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days preferred Or
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days preferred
