Part-Time Volleyball Official
Working hours: Every Sunday, January through beginning of May. Shifts are typically between 5 and 8 hours in length, depending on departmental needs.
Job Description:
The recreation department hosts coed volleyball every Sunday, split between the Big Rapids Middle School and the FSU Rec Center. Officials are responsible for overseeing games, making appropriate calls during gameplay, keeping track of game score, and diffusing conflict when needed. Experience in reffing volleyball and/or extensive knowledge of the game of volleyball is required for this position.
Job Requirements:
- Maintain order and organization of volleyball teams as well as record keeping of game sets and ending scores.
- Working well in a team environment.
- Experience with the game of volleyball is required.
- Appropriately use whistle during gameplay.
- Ability to make calls consistent and correct with the rules of volleyball.
- Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures as appropriate.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to diffuse conflict in a diplomatic and appropriate manner.
- Reffing experience or extensive knowledge of the game of volleyball.
