Lifeguard - Charles E. Fairman Community Pool
This is a seasonal position from June to mid-August.
Lifeguards are responsible for surveying the pool and helping injured or weak swimmers get to safety. Lifeguards will be responsible for enforcing pool rules with patrons, keeping track of each swimmer in the water, and administering first aid when necessary.
Duties include the following:
- Recognize and respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Closely monitoring activities related to the pool area and identifying any safety issues throughout the duration of the scheduled shift.
- Directing swimmers out of water in dangerous conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age to be considered for this position. CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certification preferred but not required, as training will be provided upon employment. A lifeguard's physical requirements typically include strong swimming abilities, endurance, ability to focus for extended periods of time, lift and carry weight, and good vision/hearing to monitor a large area.
