Axios Professional Recruitment is partnered with a wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating, underground, municipal, and fire protection products located in Grand Rapids, who is actively looking to hire an HR Generalist. The ideal candidate will be experienced in training, recruiting, compliance, and more.
The HR Generalist will be an integral part of our Human Resources team and be responsible for efficient, accurate, and effective performance of HR tasks and projects to support the company’s multiple locations and lines of business. Our team strives to maintain high associate morale, keep the Company profitable and legally compliant, and positively promote the Company within the community.

HR Generalist Qualifications:
To be considered for the HR Generalist position, applicants should:
- 5 years of experience working as a Human Resources Generalist
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, preferred.
- Demonstrated working experience in the following areas:
- Full-cycle recruiting
- Creating and providing trainings in-person and on-line.
- Utilizing and maintaining an LMS.
- Ensuring compliance of government regulations, such as OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA.
- Experience in a multi-location, multi-state environment highly desired.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification desired.
- Experience with ADP, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of Human Resource concepts and federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Working knowledge of federal and state OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA regulations.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and ethics.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines and easily adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, customer service, teamwork, judgment, adaptability, organization, prioritization, negotiation, stress management, accuracy, presentation, persuasion, listening, delegation, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
- General business acumen and understanding of balancing the needs of associates with the needs of the company.
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of associates and present information in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Maintain professional image as a representative of the company.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, with or without a calculator.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, ADP, and other HR-related software and systems.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Certifications and/or Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- HRCI or SHRM certification preferred.
