Job title: Research Scientist – Solid Dose Formulation
Department / Division: Nutrition Center of Excellence / Innovation & Science
Salary Range: $92,196/yr - $119,313/yr, plus bonus
Location: Ada, MI
What do we need:
Are you passionate about creating innovative and high-quality supplement products that improve the health and wellbeing of consumers around the world? Do you have the skills and experience to lead the formulation design and development of various product formats, such as tablets, capsules, softgels, and more? If so, you may be the perfect fit for our Formulation Scientist position.
As a Formulation Scientist, you will:
- Work with a cross-functional team of experts to design, develop, and optimize supplement formulations that meet customer needs and regulatory requirements
- Lead the innovation and technology assessment of new ingredients, delivery formats, and processes for supplement product development
- Review scientific literature and conduct experiments to evaluate the stability, efficacy, and safety of formulations
- Collaborate with our internal manufacturing plants or co-manufacturers to ensure the successful transfer and scale-up of formulations
- Prepare and present technical reports, documents, and presentations to support product development and regulatory submissions
Your key deliverable in this role will be to make sure your formulations hit the profile and cost parameters provided by our Marketing teams. A secondary deliverable is to ensure that you are always thinking about innovation; finding new ways to deliver, new ingredients, new partnerships, etc.
Required qualifications:
- Industry experience in pharmaceutical or nutritional supplement product development
- Minimum of 1 year experience with Master’s of Science or a PhD in Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmacology, or other related field of study
- A Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience is also acceptable
- Strong background in solid dose formulation design
Skills to be successful in the role:
Proven exposures in scouting new technologies, ingredient assessments, formula and delivery form design, and product profile design
- Progressive experiences in formulation design from bench top development, to pilot scale up, thru manufacturing/commercialization
- Strong communication skills with talent to work both independently and with a team, as well as cross culturally
- Customer focused mindset demonstrating support for competing priorities
